The last week of term has seen us still working hard!

In Literacy we have published our person descriptions, and made beautiful envelopes to give them to the people we wrote about, hopefully you've received these at home already. You can also see this work on the wall in the classroom.

We’ve been working hard in inquiry too, learning about how the different features of a Kiwi help it survive. Here is some of the group work we produced with our ideas.

Harold came to visit

Rimu's trip to Zealandia

On Monday we went to Zealandia. Zealandia is a wildlife sanctuary in Wellington. It has a pest-proof fence around it to keep out mammals.

We saw Kaka flying above, Fantails fluttering and Tui singing.

Did you know there are 40 million possums in NZ? know wonder our birds are in danger!

Brian showed us some traps. One trap was made by 3 Wellington men.

It goes by gas and can go 15 times before you need to reset it. It was awesome.

Surprise visit at Rimu Meeting

On Friday we had a special visit from a very funny green kiwi in our Rimu meeting. She had lost her egg and was pertrified because she thought a possum might have eaten it. We helped her find it. She looked in her lunchbox and guess what was in there...her egg! She was so happy to find it.

 We have been working on some portraits.  We got to use some sketching pencils, we shaded our faces so you can see what we look like. We haven’t got to our good copy yet and some of us haven’t even finished the draft copy, but here are some of them for you to see…

Swimming

We have been taking swimming lessons in the school pool for 5 weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have been doing backstroke and freestyle too! Awesome! We are learning to float while huddled together in life jackets.
